Introverts aren't shy. If you get this right, you'll understand half of this trait. Shyness is fear of being judged. That's anxiety, a completely different system. Introversion is something else, simply being less driven by social reward and more easily drained by it. The introvert isn't scared of packed parties.

They often just find it less rewarding than extroverts do. They would rather go deep with two people than wide with 20. Introverts are not broken extroverts who need fixing. In a world drowning in noise, deep focus, genuine listening, and thinking before speaking are turning out to be a serious edge, especially in complex knowledge work.

Different, not less.
